Mealime on Reddit: useful discussions, checked in context.

Two real discussions to start with.

In a 4 September 2026 thread in r/mealprep, the original poster describes choosing several recipes from Mealime’s catalogue and getting a grocery list. Their replacement search is frustrated by tools that expect them to collect recipes themselves. That is a clear product requirement: offer dinners to choose from before asking the user to import a collection.

A same-day discussion in r/cookingforbeginners raises the same workflow question. Its replies include users’ suggestions and people describing apps they are building. Some suggestions concern beta or early-access products. Check the actual release and supported platform before treating a reply as an available replacement.

What those posts can tell you.

A detailed description of a repeated household task can be useful evidence of what matters to that person. The distinction between discovering meals and storing recipes is especially helpful here: both can lead to a shopping list, but they require different work before the list exists.

These threads do not establish how common every preference is among all Mealime users. They also do not show that every suggested product has been tested by the person recommending it. We have not calculated a community score, ranked products by upvotes or treated a busy conversation as a controlled comparison.

Keep the date and the source of a claim.

Search engines can mix recent shutdown discussions with years-old app recommendations. Open the full thread and note the date of the post and the particular reply. Read surrounding comments before deciding whether someone is describing a current experience, repeating a rumour or announcing a planned feature.

For the service timeline and recipe availability, use Mealime’s official notice. For your subscription, use your receipt and the billing provider. For a reported login problem, look at the error on your own device. These checks answer different questions than a person’s account of their experience.

Recognise recommendations from makers.

An app developer can offer helpful details, but their product recommendation has a commercial context. Look for an explicit disclosure and follow through to the product’s own description. A working demo, a beta invitation and a released app are different stages; a future feature should remain a future feature in your notes.
