THE USEFUL DIFFERENCE

Mob is a relevant alternative if fresh recipe ideas are what bring you back to a meal planner. Judge its food and cooking effort first, then test whether its plan and list work in your normal week.

Mealime closes on 21 October 2026; its recipes continue in Meals Hub. Read the official announcement and our current Mealime pricing guide.

Start with the food, then check the tools

There is little value in a perfectly organised meal plan if the dinners do not appeal to you. Mob is especially worth a look when you enjoy discovering new combinations and want that inspiration connected to a practical cooking routine.

Mob’s official Android listing describes recipes from its chefs, weekly planning, adjustable portions, recipe collections and an aisle-organised shopping list. It also lists ingredient search and nutrition information. Source: Mob’s developer listing.

Our interpretation is that the recipe selection should be the deciding first test. Browse for an ordinary weeknight, not a dinner party. Find three dishes you would make with your usual equipment and supermarket, then read the instructions before you decide whether the collection suits you.

What matters when replacing Mealime?

Your priorityWhat to consider
New dinner ideasAssess the flavours, ingredients and actual cooking methods in a few representative recipes.
ServingsMob advertises portion adjustment. Test the amount your household needs before making a list.
ShoppingIts developer listing describes a smart list organised by supermarket aisle.
A personal rotationCollections let you keep recipes together; decide whether you can quickly find your reliable weekday meals.
Your old favouritesThis guide does not verify a Mealime import route into Mob. Keep independent backups while you choose.

The advertised planning and collection tools are listed on Google Play. A useful feature list is a starting point; your trial should establish how it behaves with your recipes and household size.

Look past the recipe photograph

For each candidate dinner, check preparation before the hob goes on. Does the recipe need a marinade, advance chopping or a component cooked separately? Count how many pans it uses and whether two steps need attention at the same time.

Then look at shopping overlap. A week of appealing dishes can still leave several half-used herbs, sauces and vegetables. Choose one pair of dinners with a shared fresh ingredient and check whether you would enjoy both. Overlap is helpful when it fits what you want to eat; it should not turn the week into a compulsory exercise in finishing everything.

Keep one meal deliberately simple. A planner should leave room for the evening when you arrive home late. If every saved recipe needs an enthusiastic cook, make an “easy nights” collection before adding more ambitious dishes.

Mob membership: check your region and billing term

The UK App Store listing shows Mob Premium at £6.99 monthly and £39.99 annually, with a seven-day Premium trial. These are UK listing prices, not worldwide prices; confirm the offer and renewal terms on your own device. Source: Mob’s UK App Store listing.

At those listed UK prices, paying monthly for twelve months would be £83.88. That comparison only matters if you will still use the membership later in the year. A discounted annual equivalent should not replace the basic question of whether enough recipes fit your tastes.

Try the app on the device where you will cook, even if you first discover Mob through its website. Do not assume every saved item, planning control or subscription route behaves identically across surfaces. Confirm the particular setup you want before making it the household’s main plan.

A three-dinner trial for a realistic week

  1. Choose one fast dinner, one dish with an ingredient you already own and one recipe that feels like a welcome change.
  2. Read each recipe fully. Assign it to an evening based on preparation and equipment, not only the displayed time.
  3. Set your actual portions, generate the shopping list and inspect shared ingredients.
  4. Check whether the list accommodates the rest of your shop. If you need a second list for household extras, decide whether that arrangement suits you.
  5. Cook one meal and save a note about any change you made. Return a few days later and see how easily you find that dish again.

Keep your Mealime collection separate during the trial. Use our readable backup tool for favourites you want to retain. A new subscription does not recreate an old account, and this comparison does not promise that Mob can ingest the resulting files.

A successful trial leaves you with meals you want to repeat and a shop you can finish without reorganising everything. If you love the recipes but prefer another planner, you can still make the membership decision based on the inspiration itself rather than expecting one product to do every job.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mob a meal-kit delivery service?

Mob’s developer listing says you buy your own ingredients at your chosen supermarket. Evaluate it as recipes and planning tools; a membership is separate from the food you buy.

How much does Mob cost in the UK?

The UK App Store listing checked for this guide shows £6.99 monthly and £39.99 annually for Premium. Verify the current offer, billing period and trial renewal on your device before subscribing.

Can I bring my complete Mealime account into Mob?

We have not verified such a transfer. Save the recipes you care about independently, and check Mob’s current supported tools before assuming it can import individual links or backup files.
